ABSTRACT

Unfortunately articulating research results is not something which comes easy to most academics. For example Sabey (1999) “regrettably the failure to follow through good quality research to influence and change policy and practice is not confined to…. It is a widespread failing amongst research organisations, many of which do not consider they have a role or responsibility for encouraging action on their findings,”

Ergonomists have been previously criticised for their inability to write the research in a manner which engages their readers. For example, Meister and Farr (1967) commented that designers do not like long passages of text; Klein andBrezovic (1986) found that designers considered the information too general or the methods used irrelevant to their work and Chapanis (1990), that design applicability in much ergonomics reporting was missing.
