ABSTRACT

The usability study for the design purposes of supervision units in industrial environments has been implemented with multiple methods in eleven different supervision units. The purpose of the study was to increase knowledge about the general usability issues and collect mind images about user experiences and ideals in the supervision units. The design group has the task to produce visual concept design for the interior of the supervision unit and supervision workers’ clothing. The main issue of this paper is to introduce the results of the projective methods used in collecting the mind image information as a means for the designers to achieve the right experiential feel for the supervision unit design. This paper was written in the phase where the study visits had been completed and the analysis of the results and the concept design was starting.
