ABSTRACT
Behavior-based safety (BBS) is not a new concept since its preceptors have been around since the early work of H.W. Heinrich, who in the 1930s and 1940s suggested that unsafe acts by workers were the primary cause of accidents/incidents that resulted in occupationally related injuries and illnesses. Over the years, the fi gure attributed to these unsafe acts has ranged from 75% to 95%.
