ABSTRACT

Impression evidence is an example of associative evidence. This simple title spans a wide range of sources, reliability, and evidential strength. Its essential basis is the identification, recording, and comparison of marks, and its value lies in Kirk’s postulates discussed in Chapter 1:

• No two things that happen by chance ever happen in exactly the same way. • No two things are ever constructed in exactly the same way. • No two things ever wear in exactly the same way. • No two things ever break in exactly the same way.
