ABSTRACT

At present, there is a slightly ironic situation: even though salts 1 and 2 are in high demand and used by many researchers, information about their synthesis is scattered over the literature, and standard references for satisfactory, high-yielding (e.g., >60%) preparations are not available. e present work introduces a simple, reliable and economic synthesis of IPr·HCl (1), IMes·HCl (2) and IXy·HCl (3). e procedure should be especially valuable to those who want to prepare these useful salts on large scale, rather than obtaining them from commercial suppliers.
