ABSTRACT
The use of ornamental geophytes in commercial –oriculture and gardening requires constant and accelerated reproduction. Although most geophyte species propagate vegetatively, they often have a low multiplication rate due to a restricted number of axillary meristems. Therefore, introduction of newly bred cultivars or pathogen-free propagation material requires a long period of time for the creation of a commercial stock.
