Components of Road-Based Transit and Delivery Systems In the last chapter, the components of the highway system were described. –e same roads, bridges, and tunnels may serve mass transit and delivery companies, as well as individual cars and trucks. While cars and trucks, intercity busses, and delivery vehicles may operate on roads in rural areas with open spaces between populated communities, mass transit systems are most o§en operating in urban and suburban settings marked by congestion and anonymity induced by high concentrations of population.
