ABSTRACT
Traumatic brain injury is a leading cause of death and disability in the United States with an estimated incidence of 1.4 million persons each year (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2006). Public awareness of the importance of brain trauma has increased greatly because of reports of increases in early dementia among athletes in trauma sports and the high incidence of brain injuries of combat troops.
