ABSTRACT

The “use it or lose it” rule for maintaining a healthy brain is perhaps the most highly popularized and widely followed practical application to come from the €eld of neurobiology. Virtually everyone intentionally or unintentionally practices some form of brain exercise, which is believed to help maintain a healthy brain-which is especially important with aging. Brain exercise, which is as simple as handwriting, is believed to stimulate the development of brain circuitry, though there are still deep mysteries concerning the molecular mechanisms involved. DHA plays an important role as a building block and in the dynamics of axon growth and development in both infants and adults. Thus, DHA seems to be fundamentally linked to brain health, plasticity, and longevity.
