ABSTRACT

Voltage regulators often depend upon magnetoresistance. Consumers are not generally aware of the existence of voltage regulators, let alone their mode of operation. Magnetoresistance is a manifestation of electron scattering resistance that was introduced in Chapter 8. Like electrical resistance, this topic is central to understanding the foundations of superconductivity, and it will be discussed here. The most general manifestation of magnetoresistance is known as the Hall effect.
