ABSTRACT
As stated in the introduction, phosphorus is a non-metallic p-block element which belongs to Group VA (Group 15) of the periodic table (Figure 3.1).
Phosphorus, symbol P, atomic number 15, atomic weight 30.974, exists as the stable isotope 31P with a nuclear spin of 1/2, and constitutes 100% of the naturally abundant species (Table 3.1). Six unstable isotopes are known (Chapter 13.5).
