With laterally loaded pile groups, the following facts are noted.

• Fixed-head, elastic solutions generally overestimate maximum bending moment and deflection of capped piles against measured data, and the impact of partially (semi-) fixed-head conditions and loading details (Duncan et al. 2005) needs to be considered.
