ABSTRACT
There are many turn-key systems available today that map the complete threedimensional (3D) shape of a human foot. These provide valuable insights into the 3D shape requirements associated with the design of a shoe to fit a foot for optimal comfort and performance. That said, selecting a scanning system to meet the needs of a particular footwear application requires careful consideration of many issues.
