ABSTRACT

The human feet are very complex. Each foot consists of 26 bones; 33 joints; and muscles, tendons, and ligaments; and a network of blood vessels, nerves, skin, and other surrounding soft tissues. These components work together to create a complex flexible structure to provide the body with support, balance, and mobility. The human feet combine mechanical complexity and structural strength. The feet can sustain large pressure and provide flexibility and resiliency.
