ABSTRACT
It is time to enter the real world and see from where and how we get our food. The long journey through the food chain that starts at the farm and ends in our mouth requires a lot of science and technology nowadays, including some surprises. In the future, this ancestral axis will intersect with a new axis connecting our brain, gut, and cells. The journey from the farm to our cells will become more complex as it will have to respond to various stringent and proactive consumer demands. The cells in our bodies (particularly those in our brains) will send signals to the farm and the whole food chain about what is desirable.
