ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the meaning of a negative public perception impact and discusses how postmodernism has created new challenges for public sector emergency managers. It shows why all impacts should be presented as potential impacts in an impact assessment. The chapter explores the symptoms of the development of the digital age and postmodernism in order to establish a deeper view of the fundamental flaw and its accompanying misgivings. Overstated or overestimated single weighted object scores for critical infrastructure, key resources, first responders, hospital capacity, or any of the measures used to justify programs must be documented and disclosed. Professionals must capture accurate and verifiable information to support every single weighted object score. The weighted score placed on the core object informs the criticality of all of its dependent metadata, and other objects that support the core object are weighted at the same level, based on inherited criticality.
