Wrapping paper, torn and scattered, littered the carpet under the Christmas tree. Two small boys, one smaller than the other, played in the glow of the colorful lights. e older boy, Donny, awaited his “big present.” e younger boy, Jimmy, had just gotten his: an o¨cial NFL jacket. He was a big fan. Well, a little one anyway. ey lived just outside of Oakland in one of the few subdivisions with any sizable trees.
