ABSTRACT
On April 14, 2001, at approximately 4:30 p.m., O¨cer Tim Johnston of the Williamsville Police Department responded to the Curl Up & Dye hair salon in the downtown business district (Figure 4.1). ere, the victim’s mother, Mavis Martin, beauty shop owner and chief stylist, witnessed a struggle between her son, Percy Martin, and Johnston during which Johnston fatally shot her son. Percy Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.
