ABSTRACT

An innovation in the kind of energy supply is crucial and imminent,

given the finite resources and the environmental impact on climate

change. Optimizing the current energy supply and energy demand

patterns or developing new conventional and renewable energy

technologies to meet the ever-increasing global demand for energy

requires groundbreaking advances in different research areas,

for example, to increase energy efficiency and adoption rate of

renewable energy in themarket. Novel breakthroughs in the cutting-

edge field of nanotechnology, as a cross-sectional technology, show

potential to be applied across the whole value chain of the energy

sector (energy sources, energy conversion, energy distribution,

energy storage and energy usage).
