ABSTRACT
The development of any new process or catalyst begins with a research program, in which efforts are made to gain an understanding of how a catalyst will operate in a full-scale unit. Although most practicing engineers will not be involved in such studies, it is necessary to have an understanding of how they are conducted so that the results from these investigations can be interpreted correctly.
