ABSTRACT

Although these may seem rare and unusual topics, this depends very much on the location of your practice. Some departments will see sickle cell patients every day, whereas others may never come across them. This makes predicting the OSCE frequency difficult, but it is wise to review your knowledge of this condition if you practice in an area where it is little encountered. The other topics within the core curriculum are relatively difficult to construct OSCEs for, and are perhaps best tested in the SAQs. We have, however, given an example of how DIC may be tested in the OSCE format.
