ABSTRACT

CASE 6.1 – Failure to attend school An 11-year-old girl has been referred by her general practitioner (GP) because she has not been going to school. She has been complaining of abdominal pain, nausea and headaches. The GP has not found any underlying cause for her symptoms, and she has not had any weight loss. She is the youngest of four children, and has always been very conscientious and does well at school. Her mother has recently been in hospital for an operation.
