ABSTRACT

CASE 5.1 – Low mood and forgetfulness You are asked to see a 68-year-old man who lives at home with his wife, who is his sole carer. Over recent months he has been becoming increasingly forgetful. His wife comments that he begins tasks, such as making a cup of tea, and then forgets what he is doing. Two days ago he went out to buy a newspaper and came home with a tin of cat food. He is aware of this, and has been becoming increasingly worried and low in mood. His sleep is poor at night and he often gets up very early in the morning.
