ABSTRACT
Although their establishment is provided for by Section 65 of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Health Review Tribunals are independent. Their membership is appointed by the Lord Chancellor.
There exists one Mental Health Review Tribunal for each National Health Service (NHS) Regional Health Authority in England, and one for Wales.
