ABSTRACT

In defining his first-rank symptoms, Schneider stated that in the absence of organic brain disease the following are highly suggestive of schizophrenia:

∑ auditory hallucinations ∑ repeat the thoughts out loud (e.g. Gedankenlautwerden, écho de la pensée) ∑ in the third person ∑ in the form of a running commentary

∑ delusions of passivity ∑ thought insertion, withdrawal and broadcasting ∑ made feelings, impulses and actions

∑ somatic passivity ∑ delusional perception.
