ABSTRACT
Clostridium difficile; the eradication of the usual bowel flora allows these spores to infect the gastrointestinal tract. The rise in the use of ineffective alcohol gels, instead of hand washing with soap and water, has contributed to an increase in the rates of Clostridium difficile infection.
