ABSTRACT
The inflammatory reaction usually resolves spontaneously but may be responsible for a characteristic
form of postinfective arthropathy (p. 192) that is sometimes epidemic and that displays a predilection for the joints of the spine. It is a spondylo-arthropathy (p. 300).
