ABSTRACT
The median is the measure of the centre of the distribution. To calculate the median the numbers simply need to be put in order and the middle one is chosen. If the number of data values is even the mean of the two middle ones is taken. In the example the numbers 6.6 and 6.7 lie either side of the middle of the data sample so the median is 6.65 mmol/L (4b).
