ABSTRACT

Each cell type in the skin can give rise to a different type of cancer. It is convenient to classify skin tumours into non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) and malignant melanoma (MM). Secondary deposits from other cancers can also present in the skin. This chapter covers the role of radiotherapy for NMSC (basal and squamous cell carcinomas), MM and other rare tumours such as cutaneous lymphoma, Kaposi’s sarcoma, angiosarcoma, and Merkel cell tumours. Radiotherapy is also used for benign conditions such as keloids.
