ABSTRACT
When an outbreak of disease occurs, effective communication is important and a group of relevant experts should be pulled together forming an Outbreak Control Team (OCT) when necessary, but particularly when the disease poses
an immediate health hazard, there are a large number of cases, or there is advance warning of a serious incident affecting food. The suggested membership of OCTs is outlined in Box 32.1.
