ABSTRACT
The cardiovascular system (Fig. 4.1) circulates blood through the vessels of the pulmonary and systemic capillaries for the purpose of exchange of oxygen, carbon dioxide, metabolic nutrients, waste products and water in the tissues and in the lungs.
