ABSTRACT

The additional information required can be classified into that related to the pregnancy and that related to the facilities available for supporting the baby. With regards to information about the pregnancy, a history of, or suggestion of, viral infection earlier in this pregnancy may provide information about possible causes of the FGR. An unexplained raised AFP at the time of biochemical screening is associated with FGR. A normal anomaly scan would have excluded malformations associated with FGR; however, it should be recognised that some of these malformations could have been missed (especially cardiac malformations). Reduced or absent fetal movements, antepartum haemorrhage or abdominal pains will provide vital information for the assessment and monitoring of the pregnancy.
