ABSTRACT

A 36-year-old lady had a laparoscopy for a persistent left-sided ovarian cyst. This was later converted to an open procedure. On the fourth postoperative day she complains of left-sided chest pain and fever. On chest examination she has bilateral equal air entry, with no added sounds. Abdominal examination is normal, and oxygen saturation is normal. What is the most appropriate investigation? J Pneumonia, pulmonary atelectasis and pulmonary embolism are the differen-

tial diagnoses. A chest X-ray is the appropriate investigation of choice.
