ABSTRACT
To make the diagnosis you will need to send a laboratory serum glucose sample (as finger-prick tests can be unreliable) which should come back as <3 mmol/L. Further specialist tests can then be conducted, such as insulin suppression tests to measure levels of glucose, insulin and C-peptide after a prolonged fast.
