ABSTRACT
This is a disease of unknown cause in which left ventricular dysfunction occurs in late pregnancy or puerperium. The condition is rare before 36 weeks. It is characterized by the absence of recognizable heart disease before the last month of pregnancy and the absence of a known cause of heart failure.
