ABSTRACT
Uterine inversion is when the fundus prolapses into the body of the uterus and beyond. It may occur spontaneously or as a result of mismanagement of the third stage of labour. It causes severe pain and may result in shock without evidence of bleeding. Haemorrhagic shock can occur if inversion has followed uterine atony.
