ABSTRACT

Puzzling cases of neurological disease, particularly peripheral neuropathies, often raise the possibility of a toxic cause for the patient’s condition. It is always worthwhile examining the clinical notes to find out about possible exposures to toxic chemicals, including social and therapeutic drugs, in any case of undiagnosed neurological disease. No harm will be done if samples of liver, kidney, hair, urine and serum are taken at the time of post mortem and preserved deep-frozen in case the need arises at a later stage of investigation for biochemical assays.
