ABSTRACT

The early system of measurement used centimetergram-second (c.g.s) as the standard but this has been replaced by the meter-kilogram-second-ampere (MKSA) system or the Système International d’Unités (SI units) which is now the standard measurement system in physics. Confusion exists when these two systems are quoted together since the two systems not only differ in their nomenclature but also in defining fundamental quantities.
