ABSTRACT

Congenital airway malformations include a wide spectrum of

pathology that occurs at various anatomic levels. Presenta-

tion varies widely, and is influenced both by the level at which

obstruction occurs and the severity of obstruction. In view of

the distinct anatomy of the pediatric airway and the

possibility of airway symptoms quickly progressing to life-

threatening airway compromise, early detection, diagnosis,

and treatment are imperative. The aim of this chapter is to

briefly discuss anomalies extending from larynx to the distal

airway, highlighting symptomatology, patient assessment,

and primary management strategies.
