ABSTRACT
In this chapter we primarily discuss emergencies in psychiatry that fall into the following areas: acute behavioural disturbances; acute alcohol withdrawal; and medicationinduced psychiatric emergencies. Other psychiatric emergencies are dealt with elsewhere in this book. A comprehensive account of practical details on cardiopulmonary resuscitation is to be found in Puri and Treasaden.1
