ABSTRACT

THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTIONS e impact of research studies using qualitative techniques has been broadly threefold: such studies have provided important insights into improving the design and conduct of quantitative research studies; have been used to investigate the generalizability of conventional clinical trials in ways that would have not been accomplished using quantitative methods; and have been invaluable in eliciting the priorities and social values of the public so as to inform decision-makers about the use of alternative or competing interventions in the face of resource constraints.
