ABSTRACT
A scoliotic deformity of the spine can be defined as one where the principal deformity is in the coronal plane. The deformity, however, is commonly more complex with deformity components in the sagittal and transverse planes (Figure 21.1). In idiopathic scoliotic curves in particular, the deformity in the transverse plane is of major importance.
