ABSTRACT

Spasticity Spasticity is one of the most important manifestations of motor system involvement following brain damage due to injury or disease. It may be defined as a velocity-dependent hyperactivity of stretch reflexes.1 If untreated, the spastic muscle may undergo myostatic contracture. This is because stretch is the stimulus that enables muscle growth to keep pace with the growth of the skeleton2 and the opposing muscles are not strong enough to stretch the spastic muscle.
