Sometimes, it may be necessary to convert feet and inches to centimetres and vice versa. Patients’ heights are usually given in feet and inches and have to be converted to centimetres. Some dosages are calculated on a ‘surface area basis’, e.g. mg/m2, particularly cytotoxic drugs. Formulae to calculate surface area require weight in kilograms and height in centimetres. The following table shows height conversions.
