ABSTRACT
An increasing variety of procedures that require sedation are performed on children in outpatient and inpatient hospital settings. Many of these procedures are difficult and potentially unsafe in unco-operative children. Moreover, children should not be subjected to unnecessary distress if this can possibly be avoided.
