ABSTRACT
Functioning of terrestrial ecosystems is dependent on biologically and biochemically mediated processes in soils. The soil biological community mediates critical ecosystem processes such as nutrient cycling, energy transformations, and degradation and cycling of complex organic compounds for which soil enzymes play a central role.
