ABSTRACT

Peter Walker had been working as a nighttime janitor at the local high school for the past several years. His mother worked in the cafeteria. She had helped Peter get the job after he had been quite unsuccessful in finding one on his own. During his job interview, it was difficult for him to stay on track with even the basic information about himself. He rambled on about having a sixth sense and being able to read people’s minds. Even more surprising was his appearance. Peter showed up for the interview looking disheveled, wearing clothes that looked like he had picked them out of his laundry hamper. Despite the minimal supervision during the night shift and the fact that he appeared to be a bit of an odd duck, the principal thought he was harmless enough. Also, given that the principal knew his mother, he felt a bit more confident about offering Peter the job.
