ABSTRACT

Chandipura virus (CHPV) was rst identied in 1965 from two human patients with encephalitic illness in Chandipura village, central India and named after the place from where the samples were collected [1]. The virus consists of an enveloped, nonsegmented, negative-sense ssRNA genome that is classied within the genus Vesiculovirus, family Rhabdoviridae, order Mononegavirales.
