Networks: Structure

After our study of biological networks on a small scale - i.e., network components - we now ask how a whole biological network can be defined and characterized. The starting point of our discussion of network structure is the random network, or random graph introduced by Erdo¨s and Renyi, 1959, which will serve us as a convenient null model.
