Drugs used to treat diseases of the blood

Blood consists of cells and plasma. Blood cells are formed in the bone marrow and comprise red and white cells and platelets. The primary components of plasma are water, proteins, salts, lipids, carbohydrates and gases. See Figure 20.1.
